A husband and wife who drew a teenaged girl into prostitution by sending her text messages promising to give her a lot of money has been caught by police.
The Yangcheon Police Department announced on the 5th that it had applied for arrest warrants for dabang owner Mr. Park (27) and his wife Mrs. Kim (31) on suspicion of luring in beautiful women, forcing them into prostitution and taking away their earnings and other goods.
In mid-October the couple registered on a chatting site popular with teenagers and left the message “if you work in a dabang you can make a lot of money.” Close friends Park (15) and Kim (16) saw and replied to the message. The couple forced the girls to live in their home in Tongyeong, telling them, “you’ve become criminals,” and “if you run away we’ll make you sorry.” In fact the couple wanted to be members of a gang.
The girls were held at the apartment from mid-October until November 25th, and were forced to work in a ticket dabang from 8 in the morning to 7 at night. Men went to the dabang, drank tea with them and then paid for sex. The couple charged men 150,000 won per time, a total of more than 50 times, earning some 7.5 million won.
A source at the police said, “they had been punished for a similar offense about four or five months before. We really need to do something about teen prostitution in these dabangs and the chatting sites that so many of the teens use.”
